October 29, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja’s office remains in contact with the Lithuanian authorities following their decision to close the border with Belarus until November 30, her press office said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are working to ensure that Belarusians who are currently in Lithuania and plan to return to Belarus can do so safely,\u201d it said in a statement. \u201cIt is very important for us that, despite the regime’s provocations, passenger traffic across the border remains possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lithuanian side will reportedly determine how to contact and collect information from those who need assistance in this matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Lithuanian government ruled to keep the border closed until November 30 following an influx of cigarette-smuggling balloons launched from Belarus. The closure may be extended, Vilnius warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
