October 30, Pozirk. <\/strong>At a meeting yesterday, the Swiss Federal Council adopted the additional sanctions against Belarus that the Council of the European Union approved on July 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement from the Swiss cabinet, these measures will take effect today. The Federal Council noted that the decision aligns Switzerland\u2019s sanctions regime against Belarus with that against Russia, thereby strengthening its impact and eliminating loopholes for circumvention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU\u2019s restrictive measures against Minsk, adopted on July 18, focus on banning arms imports, controlling exports and blocking financial transactions. However, separate sanctions documents were issued for Belarus and Russia. At a meeting of the Swiss Federal Council on October 29, the cabinet decided to join the relevant sanctions against Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 11, media reported that Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway and Ukraine joined the sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
