October 31, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> A total of 55 attempts by third-country undocumented migrants to cross from Belarusian territory were recorded on October 29 by the neighboring European Union (EU) countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Latvian border guards registered 36 attempts, followed by Lithuania with nine and Poland with 10. Ten attempts were the fewest reported by Poland since March 4, when there were none.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the beginning of the month, the number of attempts has exceeded 3,000, reaching 3,015. This represents a 43.2-percent increase compared with the 29 days of October 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has repeatedly stated that Belarusian border guards will not stop irregular migrants heading to the EU through Belarus, claiming that the bloc invited them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most recent statement was made at the III Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security on October 28. Minsk has no reason to \u201cprotect the EU and Europe from migrants.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEnduring comprehensive sanctions pressure, we don\u2019t have spare resources or moral obligations to solve the problems of those who have imposed these sanctions,” he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They are stifling us by sanctions while asking us to protect them\u2026 As soon as they imposed sanctions and severed cooperation on migration issues, I told them honestly and frankly that we will not be catching anyone and will not be protecting them\u2026 We will not protect you with a noose around our neck. Sanctions are a noose around the neck of the Belarusian people. And you expect us to protect you? This will not happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
