October 31, Pozirk<\/em><\/strong>. Deployment of Russia’s Oreshnik hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missiles in Belarus will pose a threat to European security, eurointegration.com.ua<\/em> reports, citing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey have a range of 5,000 kilometers and a \u2018dead zone\u2019 of around 700,\u201d he said, adding that Europeans, particularly in Eastern Europe and the Baltics, should take the threat seriously. \u201cWe must stay alert to these risks,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three months ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he might deploy Oreshnik missile systems to Belarus before the end of the year, with work reportedly underway to prepare positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In mid-September, Moscow and Minsk held Zapad-2025, a major joint drill featuring training in planning the use of nuclear weapons and Russia\u2019s Oreshnik missiles with a focus on air defense, defensive ground operations and tactical aviation support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The maneuvers, along with preceding Russian drone incursions into Poland, prompted Belarus\u2019 western neighbors and NATO to strengthen security measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
