November 5, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Vilnius has presented its proposals on what new international-level sanctions applied to Belarus should look like, Lithuanian Foreign Minister K\u0119stutis Budrys told reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The package of proposals contains specific terms and effects, the diplomat said, according to the Delfi <\/em>news portal. Lithuania is not a newcomer to sanctions, he said. Its packages and arguments are taken seriously, he added. Partners trust Vilnius, he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Budrys, Lithuania hopes that the package being prepared will have an impact before the final decision is made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budrys assumes that the regime of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka may draw conclusions even before all these measures are adopted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The areas that the proposals concern are not specified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of October, Lithuania\u2019s top diplomat said he hoped the European Commission would make progress on sanctions against Belarus by the end of November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 29, the Lithuanian government closed all checkpoints on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border until November 30 in response to incursions by balloons from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, Minsk has banned Lithuania-registered trucks from crossing the border through all checkpoints on the shared border, except for those closed by Vilnius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
