November 7, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian blogger and activist D\u017amitry Hrynkievi\u010d was denied entry to Moldova on Thursday and spent nearly a day in a deportees\u2019 room at Chi\u0219in\u0103u airport before being sent back to Yerevan, the Belarusian Association of Journalists has reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hrynkievi\u010d, who runs the YouTube channel Zuch \u0179micier, has lived in Armenia since May. Before that, he spent two years in Batumi. Six months ago, Georgia denied him entry after his \u201cvisa run,\u201d a short-term exit to reset the timer on the permitted visa-free stay. The blogger was handed a document citing \u201cother reasons\u201d for the ban, the BAJ said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hrynkievi\u010d said the real reason was his activism. \u201cFor my blog, I filmed Georgian opposition rallies and Belarusian rallies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn Georgia, you should make a visa run once a year. In Armenia, once every six months,” the blogger explained. He planned to briefly fly to Moldova because he couldn’t get an EU visa. On arrival, he was detained by border guards and taken for questioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs I later learned from the Telegram chat Bie\u0142arusy Ma\u0142dovy, the current attitude towards Belarusians flying to Moldova is the same: a long check and, if possible, expulsion. You could call it passport-based discrimination, but you should understand the Moldovans: there is a war in Ukraine, there is Transnistria, and Belarus is an ally of Russia,\u201d the activist said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
