November 11, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Minsk is willing to negotiate \u201cnormalizing ties\u201d and \u201csettling complicated situations\u201d with any country, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s spokeswoman told<\/a> the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked if it would make sense to organize talks on reopening checkpoints at the Belarusian border with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, Natalla Ejsmant said, \u201cIn this case, it\u2019s about our neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the upcoming negotiations with Lithuania regarding the border situation and checkpoint operations, Ejsmant said that it is up to both sides to define the format and content of these discussions. \u201cI think they’ll make up their minds. We’re ready for anything,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier today, \u0141uka\u0161enka instructed Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d to negotiate \u201cnormalizing the situation and resuming full-fledged operation of checkpoints\u201d on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian Security Council head Alaksandar Valfovi\u010d will reportedly coordinate the talks with Vilnius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of last month, Lithuania protested incursions from Belarus by weather balloons used by smugglers to deliver cigarettes. The incursions disrupted operations of the Vilnius Airport, causing delays and cancellations of flights. In response, Lithuanian authorities closed all border crossings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
