November 13, Pozirk<\/em><\/strong>. Canada and the European Union issued a joint declaration to Russia and Belarus, urging them to ensure the immediate and safe return of all forcefully displaced Ukrainian children, says<\/a> a document published by the Canadian foreign ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The declaration was adopted two days ago following the fourth Canada-European Union joint ministerial committee meeting, led by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe remain committed to supporting the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children co-chaired by Ukraine and Canada,\u201d the declaration reads. \u201cCanada and the EU also strongly condemn the support of the Belarusian regime and other enabling countries in the aggression against Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 3,500 Ukrainian children from Russian-held Ukrainian regions were deported to Belarus, where they were subjected to military training and indoctrination, according to the Belarusian opposition politician Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Warsaw-based National Anti-Crisis Management keeps collecting evidence on forced transfers for the International Criminal Court (ICC), which earlier issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his children\u2019s rights commissioner, Maria Lvova-Belova, over the alleged deportation of Ukrainian children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian pro-democracy forces are seeking a similar warrant for Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years ago, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on the ICC to consider such action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
