November 13, Pozirk<\/em><\/strong>. Poland exported to Belarus 6.52 thousand tons of potatoes worth 9.89 million zlotys ($2.71 million at the current exchange rate) in total in January\u2013August 2025, topagrar.pl<\/em> has reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus was the fourth largest buyer of Polish potatoes over the specified period. The leaders were Ukraine with 57.11 thousand tons, Romania with 11.9 thousand tons and Moldova with 9.92 thousand tons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lack of potatoes in stores, as well as high prices for this food, sparked a public outcry in spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 8, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka acknowledged the potato deficit. Later he made several statements in this regard. For example, he blamed the shortage on politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later in the month, the government lifted a ban on potato and some other imports from the countries it had deemed \u201cunfriendly,\u201d including Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August 2025, Belarus was the largest importer of Polish apples among the non-EU states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
