November 13, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Over the five years that have passed since the 2020 presidential election, Belarusians\u2019 mindset and hearts have not changed, \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja told a panel discussion in the UK Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Cichano\u016dskaja, Belarusians do not want to participate in Russia\u2019s wars and imperial plans and consider Europe the only alternative to the \u201cRussian world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opposition won the election in 2020 and would win it again if the vote counting was real, she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka is trading the country\u2019s independence for Russia\u2019s financial, political and military support, the opposition leader continued. \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s goal is to \u201csubdue us and destroy our national identity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides, Cichano\u016dskaja thanked Lithuania for filing claims against the \u0141uka\u0161enka regime with international courts and for joining the international humanitarian foundation. She called on the UK to back these initiatives as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
