November 18, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>Vilnius may reopen the shared border with Belarus ahead of the planned date of November 30, Lithuania\u2019s TV3<\/em> reported, citing Remigijus Motuzas, chair of the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The border closure affected international cargoes from Central Asia, China and other countries, disrupting supply chains and the movement of goods in addition to the stranded Lithuanian trucks in Belarus, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lithuanian government will discuss the issue tomorrow, following technical contacts between Lithuanian and Belarusian officials scheduled for today, Motuzas added, describing the upcoming talks as a key element in the decision-making process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, Lithuanian Foreign Minister K\u0119stutis Budrys hinted at the possibility of an earlier border reopening, stressing that Lithuania’s priority was preventing hybrid attacks and pressuring Minsk to change its behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 1,265 Lithuania-registered trucks remain stranded in Belarus after a one-month border closure approved by Vilnius on October 29. The move followed numerous airspace violations by cigarette-smuggling balloons launched from Belarus. In response, Minsk banned Lithuanian trucks from leaving Belarus and directed them to special guarded parking lots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuania accused Belarus of escalating tensions by seizing Lithuanian trucks and prohibiting them from leaving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d announced readiness to negotiate border reopening with Lithuania \u201cat any time, in any territory, without any preconditions.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginien\u0117 confirmed receiving an official proposal from Minsk to hold talks on settling border issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
