{"id":166200,"date":"2025-11-29T17:16:27","date_gmt":"2025-11-29T14:16:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/166200\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"pro-russian-influencer-alekseyev-granted-asylum-in-belarus","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/166200\/","title":{"rendered":"Pro-Russian influencer Alekseyev granted asylum in Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>November 29,&nbsp;<em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;Yury Alekseyev, a former editor notorious for spreading Russian propaganda and wanted by Latvia, has been granted political asylum in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On November 29, his 67<sup>th<\/sup> birthday, the man posted a photo of his refugee ID and a related decision signed by Ivan Novika\u016d, chief of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alekseyev fled from Riga to Belarus&nbsp;in October 2024 after failing to show up for a court hearing in Ventspils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Norilsk native had served as editor-in-chief at&nbsp;<em>Biznes &amp; Baltiya<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Kommersant Baltic<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Business.lv<\/em>&nbsp;in Latvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More recently, he ran the&nbsp;<em>Imhoclub.lv<\/em>&nbsp;platform for fringe opinions, which promoted pro-Kremlin narratives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January 2023, the Riga District Court gave Alekseyev a 13-month prison sentence after finding him guilty of inciting hatred. He was expected to be taken into custody in October 2024,&nbsp;<em>grani.lv<\/em>&nbsp;reported.
