Alaksiej Jahie\u0142a, a 41-year old doctor, was convicted of facilitating extremism in Homiel, Chryscijanskaja Vizija reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vasil Hra\u010dycha, a Belarusian volunteer who briefly served with the Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Regiment (KKR) fighting alongside Ukrainian forces, was convicted in Belarus last week together with another former volunteer fighter, Vasil Vieramiej\u010dyk, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hra\u010dycha was given five years in prison and Vieramiej\u010dyk, who had been arrested in Vietnam and extradited to Belarus earlier this year, was sentenced to 13 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u017amitryj Kova\u010d, an employee of a private tour operator, was convicted of inciting hatred in Brest, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Mahilo\u016d, Maryna Chramcova and Alaksandra Dubo\u016dskaja were sentenced to three years in prison in September on charges of creating an extremist group, MAYDAY.TEAM reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Minsk, Alaksandar Rusakovi\u010d, a 32-year old economist, was convicted of facilitating extremism and insulting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, according to Viasna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ta\u0107ciana \u0141ukjanava, a 41-year old music teacher, was convicted of facilitating extremism earlier this year, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities expanded the list of extremist content adding Telegram accounts and chats, such as CUM<\/em>\u0443\u043d\u043a\u0443\u043b\u044b<\/em>, Denis Kazan\u015bkiy<\/em>, Aleksandr Kovalenko<\/em>, as well as iwe97_belarus<\/em> on Instagram, Na\u0160y<\/em> on Facebook, HANCAVI\u010cY<\/em> in VKontakte and ZinZin<\/em> in Tiktok, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities failed to auction off an apartment seized from Ja\u016dhen Vilski, acting chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party \u201cNarodnaja Hramada\u201d in Navapo\u0142ack. Vilski was tried at the Brest Regional Court in his absence in July 2024 and sentenced to 12 years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In November, authorities added 67 men and 33 women to the list of extremists, according to Viasna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of December 1, human rights defenders identified at least 1,222 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because of many undocumented cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
