December 11, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> In November, Belarusian propaganda cast Lithuania as an irresponsible state susceptible to foreign influence, noted Lithuanian army analysts in a new report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and other officials repeated claims that \u201cLithuania unfoundedly accuses Minsk of creating threats, while Belarus seeks dialogue and takes care of drivers stranded at the border in a good way,\u201d the report says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials claimed that Vilnius rejected engagement \u201con instructions from Brussels and Washington.\u201d Propaganda also claimed that the closure of border checkpoints was necessary to justify \u201ca blockade of Kaliningrad\u201d and an increase in military spending, the report says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vilnius kept the Medininkai\u2013Kamienny \u0141oh and \u0160al\u010dininkai\u2013Bieniakoni checkpoints at the shared border with Belarus closed from October 29 to November 20 over incursions by weather balloons launched by cigarette smugglers from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly 200 trucks remain stranded in Belarus since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
