December<\/strong> 13, Pozirk<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em><\/strong> Three convictions on extremism-related charges and a new extremist group designation were reported on December 11 and 12 as Belarusian authorities continue their relentless crackdown on dissent that began during the 2020 postelection protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minsk City Court convicted Barys Chusaina\u016d, a former manager with the Amkador Spiecservis company, and Vojciech Hrabicki, a dance teacher, of facilitating extremism. Chusaina\u016d was prosecuted over correspondence with Bie\u0142aruski Hajun, a now-defunct project that monitored military activity in Belarus, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Brest court convicted a \u0141uniniec-based blogger Alona Chartanovi\u010d of the same crime, according to Na\u0161a Niva<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Committee for State Security (KGB) added seven people to its list of designated terrorists: Ivan Zamiacin, Ja\u016dhien Va\u0142ychin, Alaksandar Machna\u010d, U\u0142adzimir Isaje\u016d, Siarhiej Cvikievi\u010d, Illa Bakino\u016dski and Raman Husiejna\u016d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior ministry added 18 to its list of extremists: Raman Basa\u0142aj, Ja\u016dhienija \u017duk, Andrej Ivano\u016dski, Hanna Martynava, Pavie\u0142 Vach\u0142ako\u016d, D\u017amitryj Cimafieje\u016d, Pavie\u0142 Stanis\u0142a\u016d\u010dyk, Rus\u0142an Kiryluk, Rus\u0142an Baran\u010dyk, Vadzim \u017dyvale\u016dski, Alaksiej Le\u016dkievi\u010d, Anhielina Statkievi\u010d, Andrej Jaka\u016dle\u016d, Lizavieta Andryjan\u010dyk, Juryj Karnicki, Siarhiej Lebiedze\u016d, Pavie\u0142 \u0160arko and Vojciech Hrabicki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior ministry labelled Kastu\u015b, a social media project active since 2021, as an extremist group, listing Kanstancin Rezni\u010dak and Alaksandar Hierasimienka as members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A YouTube channel linked to Kastu\u015b, with nearly 60,000 followers, describes the project\u2019s priorities as dismantling the lies of Russian propaganda and raising funds to help those fighting against Russia in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities have convicted at least 3,476 people of crimes for online activities since 2020, including 2,799 for social media posts, says a report by Dissidentby \u0438 Human Constanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of December 12, human rights defenders identified at least 1,227 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher due to many undocumented cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since March 6, the website affiliated with the Belarusian Supreme Court has not published any court schedules that helped document reprisals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
