December 16, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus\u2019 tourism exports rose by 44.2 percent year on year from January to October, driven by an influx of Russian tourists, Iryna Varanovi\u010d of the tourism ministry said at a news conference in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She noted that Belarus is likely to record its highest tourism revenue this year, surpassing the pre-pandemic peak of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most visitors come from Russia, China, Latvia, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of Russian tourists surged by 47.1 percent. Many Russians visit health resorts and also take shopping tours to buy food and clothing, Varanovi\u010d said. Shopping tours \u201chave been very popular for a third year in a row.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operators offering such tours advertise not only Belarusian products but also international brands that are no longer available in Russia following the withdrawal of foreign businesses after Russia\u2019s attack on Ukraine in February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s growth is especially notable compared with last year. In the first ten months of 2024, Belarus\u2019 exports of tourism services rose by 31 percent to $206.7 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
