{"id":1687,"date":"2023-08-09T13:36:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T10:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=1687"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"poland-sending-2000-soldiers-to-secure-belarus-border","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/1687\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland sending 2,000 soldiers to secure Belarus border"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>August 9,&nbsp;<em>BPN<\/em>.<\/strong>&nbsp;Warsaw will send &#8220;not 1,000 but 2,000 soldiers&#8221; to strengthen border security with Belarus at the request of the Polish Border Guard, Deputy Interior Minister Maciej W\u0105sik has told PAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The additional troops will be deployed in the Podlaskie and Lublin voivodeships, he said noting that reinforcements will arrive within the next two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poland does not need assistance from its allies in protecting the border as a total of 2,000 soldiers are already working together with border guards, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 7, Belarus launched a command and staff exercise involving the 6th Independent Mechanized Brigade in the Hrodna region, near Belarus&#8217; border with Poland and Lithuania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian defense ministry said that the drill focuses on &#8220;unit management\u201d across the battlefield based on Russian experiences in the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz B\u0142aszczak sent reinforcements to the border with Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The drill is taking place amid military and political tension between Belarus and neighboring EU countries.
