December 24, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian security forces have dismantled a foreign intelligence network, Ivan Tertel, chief of the Committee for State Security (KGB), said today, Pul Pervogo,<\/em> Alaksandar Lukasenka’s unofficial Telegram channel reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith the help of certain individuals, technical equipment was installed on our territory that allowed the interception of communications between our pilots, both civilian and military, as they carried out their duties. They also monitored the situation around classified facilities. A large-scale counterintelligence operation enabled us to neutralize the threat,\u201d Tertel said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foreign intelligence services are monitoring the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons and the Oreshnik missile system in Belarus as well as railway transport, defense facilities and key industries, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe long-term plans of our opponents have not changed,\u201d Tertel said. \u201cThe main focus, of course, is the geopolitical redistribution in the region and a second attempt to change the constitutional order in the Republic of Belarus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KGB frequently reports the detection and arrest of foreign \u201cspies\u201d in Belarus with corresponding propaganda films aired on Belarusian state-run television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
