December 25, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian judges on December 23 branded the CityDog magazine\u2019s Instagram account and the news aggregator moyby.com (\u041c\u043e\u0439.by. \u041d\u043e\u0432\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0438 \u0411\u0435\u043b\u0430\u0440\u0443\u0441\u0438) extremist content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 22, the Uzda District Court labeled the Tiktok account of former political prisoner Kira Bajarenka extremist content. Pozirk<\/em> published an interview with the opposition activist in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 22, a district judge in Mahilo\u016d blacklisted as extremist content an hour-long documentary about Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s relationship with Russia titled \u041c\u043d\u043e\u0433\u043e\u0432\u0435\u043a\u0442\u043e\u0440\u043d\u044b\u0439. <\/em>\u041b\u0443\u043a\u0430\u0448\u0435\u043d\u043a\u043e \u0438 \u0420\u043e\u0441\u0441\u0438\u044f: \u043e\u0442 \u043b\u044e\u0431\u0432\u0438 \u0434\u043e \u043d\u0435\u043d\u0430\u0432\u0438\u0441\u0442\u0438<\/em> (Multivectorial. \u0141uka\u0161enka and Russia: from love to hatred) filmed by Russian filmmaker Aleksandr Shtefanov. The film has 635,000 views on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 1,922-page list of extremist content contains electronic and print media products critical of the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government introduced the \u201cextremist content\u201d designation in the wake of the 2020 mass protests against election fraud to punish Belarusians for following critical media outlets and social media accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian law enforcement officers randomly check people\u2019s phones to see who are they following. Those found to possess or share links to banned media and accounts are punished by fines or jail sentences of up to 15 days under Article 19.11 of the Administrative Offenses Code. It does not carry any punishment for those producing banned content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police forced some of those arrested to confess to following \u201cextremist\u201d content before a video camera and then posted forced confessions on Telegram accounts to intimidate the public. State television journalists have been involved in recording forced confessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
