December 29, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Wage growth in Belarus remains strong, driven by high labor demand, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) said in its weekly macroeconomic report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The analysts noted that real wages rose by 8.4 percent last month, after a 7-percent increase in October, attributing the trend to the government\u2019s decision to raise the base wage rate by 8.8 percent from January 1, which determines public sector salaries in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians\u2019 nominal average pay before taxes amounted to 2,704 rubels (about $928) in November, dropping by 2 percent from the October level, according to Pozirk<\/em>\u2019s analysis of the National Statistics Committee\u2019s (Bie\u0142stat) data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nominal average pay was rising between February and July, posting a decline in August and September and a 0.4-percent growth in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consumer prices in Belarus climbed by 0.4 percent last month and 7 percent in the 12 months to November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
