{"id":1700,"date":"2023-08-10T11:40:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-10T08:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=1700"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"poland-to-deploy-up-to-10000-troops-at-shared-border-with-belarus-defense-minister","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/1700\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland to deploy up to 10,000 troops at shared border with Belarus \u2013 defense minister"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>August 10,&nbsp;<em>BPN<\/em>.<\/strong>&nbsp;Warsaw will send 10,000 troops to its eastern border in the face of increased threats of escalation from Belarus, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz B\u0142aszczak has told&nbsp;<em>Polskie Radio<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About 4,000 soldiers will &#8220;directly assist&#8221; Polish border guards, while 6,000 will remain in reserve, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move should scare potential aggressors discouraging any kind of attacks or provocations against Poland, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident involving two Belarusian helicopters that violated Polish airspace on August 1 should not be underestimated, as &#8220;everything that happens in Belarus is coordinated with Russia,&#8221; B\u0142aszczak stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poland may seal off its border with Belarus, the minister added noting that Warsaw is in contact with Lithuania on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 7, Belarus launched a command and staff exercise involving the 6th Independent Mechanized Brigade in the Hrodna region, near Belarus&#8217; border with Poland and Lithuania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian defense ministry said that the drill focuses on &#8220;unit management\u201d across the battlefield based on Russian experiences in the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The drill is taking place amid military and political tension between Belarus and neighboring EU countries.
