{"id":170082,"date":"2025-12-30T16:05:27","date_gmt":"2025-12-30T13:05:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/170082\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"belarus-to-spend-over-500-million-on-environmental-improvements-over-next-five-years","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/170082\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus to spend over $500 million on environmental improvements over next five years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>December 30, Pozirk.<\/strong><\/em> The Belarusian government plans to spend 1.6 billion rubles (about $557 million) over the next five years to improve the country\u2019s environment under the <em>Ecology<\/em> program signed by the prime minister on December 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program sets the following key performance targets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>improving the accuracy of weather forecasts to 97.75 percent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 37 percent of the 1990 level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>expanding the area of aquatic ecosystems by 30 percent compared with 2017<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fully decommissioning equipment containing polychlorinated biphenyls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>increasing specially protected natural areas to 9.4 percent of the country\u2019s territory<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ensuring very clean, clean or satisfactory air quality for 93 percent of the year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>achieving good water quality in 80 percent of water bodies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>limiting insufficiently treated wastewater discharges to 30 percent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>recycling or reusing 70 percent of solid waste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the government plans to enact an Ecological Code by August 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 30, Pozirk.
