December 30, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus\u2019 pro-democracy politicians have railed against the government\u2019s militarization policy hours after the defense ministry in Minsk released a 35-second video of what it called Russia\u2019s Oreshnik missile system on combat patrol duty somewhere in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noting that the nuclear-capable missile has been brought closer to European capitals, pro-democracy leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja said<\/a>, \u201cThese threats to Europe\u2019s security will remain as long as the dictator stays in power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka, deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet, described<\/a> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka as a \u201cblackmailer.\u201d \u201cThe dictator confirmed his status as a leading ally of the aggressor, which is important for the USA and European partners to understand,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defense ministry said that the system has a range of up to 5,000 kilometers and can fire both conventional and \u201cspecial\u201d warheads from any point of its combat patrol route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview broadcast by ONT<\/em> on December 26, Pavie\u0142 Muraviejka, first deputy defense minister, said it takes minutes for the crew to prepare the system for a missile launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin, in an interview broadcast the same day, pushed back hard against the suggestion that Russia had deployed the Oreshnik and nuclear munitions to Belarus to attack European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the Russian nuclear ammunition had been in Belarus for over a year and \u201chad been replaced\u201d recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials announced in mid-December that the Oreshnik had arrived in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
