January 3, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The neighboring European Union countries did not allow at least 42,714 third-country foreigners to cross irregularly via Belarus in 2025, with the number of attempts rising 17.7 percent from 2024, according to Pozirk<\/em>‘s analysis of border guards’ data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last year\u2019s figure is close to the 42,078 attempts recorded in 2023 and compares with 36,291 attempts in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, the most intense months were May (6,825 attempts), August (6,685) and June (6,172), while February (686), January and December (686 each) were the quietest months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland has remained the primary target of irregular migration since the start of the crisis in 2021. Warsaw reported 15,699 such crossings in 2022; 25,571 in 2023: 29,972 in 2024; 29,055 in 2025. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuania demonstrated a downward trend in irregular migration via Belarus, with numbers peaking in 2022 at 11,211 attempts and falling until 2025, which posted an almost 65-percent increase year on year with 1,651 attempts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Irregular crossings into Latvia have fluctuated over the past four years, reaching a record high in 2023 with 13,863 attempts and followed by 2025 with 12,008 attempts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flow of people desperate to cross into the EU surged in spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent asylum seekers from Africa and Asia from using Belarus as a route to the EU. Belarus\u2019 western neighbors reported 48,789 irregular crossings in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, 202,068 attempts by third-country nationals to enter the EU irregularly via Belarus were recorded between 2021 and 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latvia, Lithuania and Poland call the migration crisis a \u201chybrid attack\u201d orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
