January 20, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>Belarus’ joining the Board of Peace for Gaza, designed by US President Donald Trump, is important in terms of the opportunities offered by this organization, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am attracted by the fact that this Board of Peace, its actions and its capabilities can spread to other parts of the planet,\u201d his press office quoted him as saying. \u201cPerhaps we will help Ukraine; we will be able to bring peace closer and influence the Ukrainian leadership. That’s what appeals to me most, rather than the fact that we’ll be helping Gaza a lot. I know my capabilities and the capabilities of Belarus.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician also addressed reports that permanent membership in the Board of Peace could be secured with a $1 billion contribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou need a billion if you want to work in three years. But there is another condition: if you perform well and cooperate for the sake of peace, you can continue even without a billion. I am focusing on the latter,\u201d \u0141uka\u0161enka said. “No one will have to pay money just like that. That was the first question I asked. No, no money is needed. The foreign ministry has seriously studied all these issues,” he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board of Peace is part of Trump\u2019s 20-point plan to end the Israel\u2013Hamas war and is expected to temporarily oversee the administration of Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exact structure of the board, which will also manage Gaza\u2019s reconstruction, remains unclear. Washington reportedly invited about 50 countries to join it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he could not imagine his country serving on the same body as Belarus and Russia after receiving the invitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
