January 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Kastus Kalino\u016dski Regiment (KKR) has reported that its former soldier, Belarusian volunteer Alaksej \u0141azara\u016d, was killed in action in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141azara\u016d was among the first Belarusians to volunteer to defend Ukraine after the start of the Russian full-scale invasion. He took part in the defense of Kyiv and in the liberation of the Kherson and Nikolaiv regions, as well as in operations in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. At the time of his death, he was serving with the 225th Detached Assault Battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KKR said it would support his widow, Veronika.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March 2022, shortly after Moscow launched an offensive on Kyiv, Belarusian volunteers formed the Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Battalion. The unit soon joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and later expanded into a regiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime has designated the unit a terrorist and extremist organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to available data, around 70 Belarusian volunteers have been killed while fighting against Russia in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
