January 25,<\/strong> Pozirk.<\/strong><\/em> Russia is working to open embassy branches in Viciebsk, Homiel and Mahilo\u016d to boost cross-regional ties and advance the rights of its compatriots, Aleksei Polishchuk, a high-ranking Russian diplomat, told RIA Novosti<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus, for its turn, will open an embassy branch in Voronezh and considers setting up a branch in Omsk, said Polishchuk, director of the Second Department of the CIS Countries at the Russian foreign ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus has 15 diplomatic offices in Russia, such as the embassy in Moscow, consulates general in Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don and Saint Petersburg, six embassy branches in Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Smolensk, Kazan and Ufa, with the latter two to be upgraded to consulates general on April 1, and two honorary consuls in Yekaterinburg and Tumen, according to Polishchuk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia will soon have diplomatic presence across Belarus\u2019 regions, he added. It operates the embassy in Minsk, consulates general in Brest and Hrodna, and is represented by honorary consuls in Viciebsk and Homiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rossotrudnichestvo, Russia\u2019s soft-power institution, operates science and culture centers in Minsk, Brest and Hrodna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
