January 27, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>The number of legal entities registered in Belarus rose by nearly 4 percent last year to 162,274 on January 1, according to Pozirk<\/em>‘s analysis of the National Statistical Committee\u2019s (Bie\u0142stat) data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The increase is linked to legislative amendments that came into force in late 2024 and limited the range of activities for individual entrepreneurs. Many had to re-register as legal entities under a simplified procedure by late December 2025 to comply with the new rules. Consequently, the number of individual entrepreneurs fell by nearly 14 percent to 204,350 on January 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All regions and the city of Minsk posted declines, with the steepest drop in the Minsk region at 24.3 percent, followed by the Brest and Hrodna regions with decreases of 17.6 percent and 16.3 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most legal entities registered in Belarus, 78.6 percent, operate in the service sector, while 21.4 percent are engaged in manufacturing. State-owned companies account for 10.3 percent of the total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city of Minsk recorded the strongest growth in the number of legal entities, up 7.2 percent to 64,791 companies, while the Minsk region was the only area to post a decline, down 3.5 percent to 26,742. The remaining five regions reported increases ranging from 2.6 percent to 4.6 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
