January 29, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission in the United States Congress will hold hearings on the human rights situation in Belarus on February 3, says the announcement on the commission\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former political prisoner Siarhiej Cichano\u016dski, Dzianis Ku\u010dynki from the team of Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja and Vytis Jurkonis, head of Freedom House in Lithuania, are expected to participate in the meeting. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hearing will focus on Minsk\u2019s human rights abuses and Washington’s reaction, offering recommendations for Congress.\u00a0It will be held in person with a livestream available on the commission\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission is a bipartisan congressional body dedicated to promoting and defending international human rights norms as well as advising US lawmakers and government agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
