January 30, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus plans to renovate its Kamienny \u0141oh checkpoint at the border with Lithuania to triple its traffic capacity and improve services for travelers, U\u0142adzimir Ar\u0142o\u016dski, chairman of the State Customs Committee, said on January 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the checkpoint has not been upgraded for more than 20 years. He did not say whether the renovations will affect its operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamienny \u0141oh, one of the two remaining checkpoints at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, has a daily traffic capacity of 600 passenger vehicles and 500 trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuania closed the Medininkai\u2013Kamienny \u0141oh and \u0160al\u010dininkai\u2013Bieniakoni border checkpoints with Belarus from October 29 to November 20 following incursions by air balloons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vilnius closed down four checkpoints at the border with Belarus in 2023 and 2024 amid political tensions between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
