February 1, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar Valfovi\u010d, state secretary of the Belarusian Security Council, has announced the completion of the first stage of a large-scale surprise drill launched on January 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise, ordered by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, featured a combat readiness check of the 19th Detached Mechanized Brigade based in Zas\u0142onava, Viciebsk region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise took place \u201cin difficult conditions,\u201d Valfovi\u010d had told the state-run Belarus 1<\/em> TV channel, probably referring to a prolonged cold spell in Belarus. The servicemen \u201csuccessfully carried out their duties\u201d and delivered \u201cpositive results,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka reportedly monitored the drill daily and personally issued instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the Belarusian ruler said the large-scale surprise drill would continue until spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army is regularly conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
