February 2, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and his Belarusian counterpart Alaksandar Tur\u010dyn will hold a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia today in Moscow, the Russian government\u2019s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting is expected to focus on bilateral cooperation and deepening integration, with evaluation of Union State treaty implementation in 2024-2026, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Union State treaty between Belarus and Russia dates back to 1999 and is of unlimited duration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, Russia launched an upgrade of the Union State to bind the two countries together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four years ago, Minsk and Moscow signed 28 Union State programs focusing on macroeconomic, industrial and agricultural policies, tax and customs harmonization and a common energy market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahead of the treaty\u2019s 25th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary in 2024, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a security guarantees deal that provides for defending the Union State territory and border with \u201call available forces and means,\u201d including the use of Russian tactical nuclear weapons stationed in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
