February 2, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar Luka\u0161enka has met Brazilian Ambassador to Belarus Bernard Klingl to express his support for Brazilian President Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva, 80, who intends to run in the 2026 elections, the Belarusian ruler’s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBrazil is going through an important political moment,\u201d it quoted the politician as saying. “We are very eager for the current president of Brazil to retain his position in this election. As far as I am aware, he has confirmed his participation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will do everything possible to ensure that, if necessary for Brazil, the elections take place in a calm and peaceful environment, in the best interests of the Brazilian people,” Luka\u0161enka added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 4, Brazil will hold general elections to elect the president, vice president, members of the National Congress, governors and their deputies and representatives of local legislative assemblies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brazil\u2019s constitution limits presidents to two consecutive terms. Lula served two terms from 2003 to 2011 and was elected Brazil\u2019s 39th president in 2022, after defeating far-right former incumbent Jair Bolsonaro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
