February 3, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Viktar Babaryka, a former presidential hopeful released from prison in December and forced by Belarusian authorities into exile, has met with opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja to discuss a strategy for the pro-democracy forces, the latter said in her Telegram channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician did not specify the place of their meeting, but it might have been held in Vilnius. Maryja Kale\u015bnikava, a former campaign manager for Babaryka also released in December, is reported to be in the Lithuanian capital, where she already met with Prime Minister Inga R\u016bginien\u0117.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was Babaryka\u2019s first meeting with Cichano\u016dskaja upon release, the politician said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Babaryka spent more than five years in prison before his release among 123 other prisoners on December 13 in a deal with Washington. He was convicted of corruption and sentenced to 14 years in prison, but his supporters say the charges were intended to prevent him from running the race, which he could have won.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He lives in Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
