{"id":174162,"date":"2026-02-03T21:52:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T18:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/174162\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"fewer-schools-teachers-in-belarus-after-30-years-under-lukasenka","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/174162\/","title":{"rendered":"Fewer schools, teachers in Belarus after 30 years under \u0141uka\u0161enka"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>February 3, <em>Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The number of full-time general education institutions and that of their teachers has dropped by 43.4 and 27.7 percent, respectively, over the 30 years of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s rule, according to <em>Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> analysis of the National Statistical Committee\u2019s (Bie\u0142stat) data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarus had 2,817 general education institutions in 2025, compared with 4,973 in 1994, when \u0141uka\u0161enka was elected president, and 3,009 in 2020 \u2013 decreases of 43.4 and 6.4 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number dropped by 11.1 percent between 2020 and 2025 in the Viciebsk region, by eight percent in the Hrodna and Mahile\u016d region, by 6.3 percent in the Homiel region, by 6.2 percent in the Brest region, by 3.2 percent in the city of Minsk, and by 2.9 percent in the Minsk region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarus\u2019 general education institutions had a total of 98,148 teachers in 2025, compared with 135,671 in 1994, a decrease of 27.7 percent, and with 111,358 in 2020, a decrease of 11.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number dropped by 20.1 percent between 2020 and 2025 in the Viciebsk region, by 15.9 percent in the Hrodna region, by 15.8 percent in the Mahile\u016d region, by 10.7 percent in the Homiel region, by 10.4 percent in the Minsk region, by 10.1 percent in the Brest region, and by 3.4 percent in the city of Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarus had 3,653 preschool education institutions in 2025, compared with 4,693 in 1994 and 3,799 in 2020, decreases of 22.1 and 3.8 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 3, Pozirk.
