February 6, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Lithuanian authorities issued voluntary departure decisions to 41 Belarusian nationals in January and deportation orders to five others. Belarusians accounted for 20.4 percent of all voluntary departure decisions and 33.3 percent of all deportation orders issued during the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deportation, also known as removal, involves the authorities forcibly expelling a foreign national from the country, typically accompanied by an entry ban. Voluntary departure, by contrast, allows a foreigner to leave Lithuania on their own within a specified deadline, avoiding forced removal and often lessening legal consequences for future entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of voluntary departure decisions issued to Belarusians fell by 46.8 percent year on year, while deportations increased fivefold over the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, Lithuania ordered the expulsion of 4,213 foreign nationals, including 690 Belarusians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 50,000 Belarusians held residence permits in Lithuania on January 1. The number declined by 7,225 or 12.56 percent from January 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
