February 9, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Western countries are planning to conduct a \u201cthorough assessment\u201d of Belarusian opposition figures to use them in “subversive activities” in the future, Russia’s TASS<\/em> reports, citing a statement by Russia\u2019s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWestern \u2018democratizers\u2019 are once again targeting Belarus,\u201d the document said. The SVR claimed that NGOs based in the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States are accumulating forces for another attempt at destabilizing Belarus and changing its constitutional order by 2030, when the next presidential election is expected to take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201ccolor revolution scenario\u201d allegedly features the search for \u201cnew liberal activists in Belarusian society,\u201d since exiled Belarusian opposition led by \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja \u201cdemonstrated their complete inability to influence processes in their home country,\u201d according to the document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SVR also accused the West of intentions to weaken the ties between Minsk and Moscow within the Union State of Belarus and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
