February 9, Pozirk. <\/strong>Belarusian Ambassador Michai\u0142 Ka\u015bko confirmed on February 9 that Minsk is interested to join the BRICS New Development Bank, said the Belarusian foreign ministry\u2019s press office with reference to his remarks at the first BRICS Sherpa\/Sous-Sherpa meeting in Delhi, India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accession to the bank would help all participating countries and partners of the association to realize their economic potential, the press office said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ka\u015bko conveyed a message by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka \u201cexpressing confidence that the year of India\u2019s presidency would usher in new achievements and strengthen the position of BRICS as an influential international organization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus is ready to share its technological potential and achievements in the areas of food and water security for the harmonious development of BRICS countries, the message said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judging by \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s message of greetings to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extended at the end of January on the occasion of India\u2019s Republic Day, the Belarusian ruler plans to attend the BRICS summit in India later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formed in 2009 as an informal platform to oppose what was called the Western-dominated world order, BRIC originally included Brazil, China, India and Russia, with South Africa joining in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, the list of BRICS members expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka attended the BRICS summit in October 2024 in Kazan, Russia, shortly before Belarus was granted partner status in the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
