February 10, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>The Belarusian Armed Forces have launched a new, larger-scale surprise drill marked by complexity and breadth of the tasks, the defense ministry reports, citing Alaksandar Valfovi\u010d, state secretary of the Belarusian Security Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise, which was initiated by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka on January 16, is expected to last until spring. The current stage will involve special operations forces and several military units of the Western and Northwestern Operational Commands, the official noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Units forming part of the rapid response force will practice combat readiness in peacetime, onload ammunition and other supplies and deploy to designated areas, including locations near the state border, Valfovi\u010d specified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drill will also focus on countering enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, constructing engineering barrier systems, conducting defensive combat operations and live-fire practice at a training ground, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army is regularly conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
