February 11, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The incidence of cancer in Belarus currently stands at about 17 cases per 100,000 children, Ina Pralasko\u016dskaja, deputy head of the national paediatric oncology center, has told journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the late 1990s, Belarus recorded a similar number of cases, with the rate dropping slightly to about 14\u201315 cases per 100,000 in the mid-2000s, she noted. Since 2010, the number of cases had been climbing steadily, reaching nearly 20 cases per 100,000 between 2015 and 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, roughly 300 children in Belarus receive a cancer diagnosis. The number was below 300 in 2014 but rose to 329 by 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly a quarter of child cancer cases were diagnosed at an advanced stage in 2024, down from 50 percent in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
