February 11, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Lithuania\u2019s State Security Department (VSD) has warned Lithuanians against cooperation with the Belarusian KGB in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agency cited a YouTube video, allegedly produced by the Belarusian KGB in Lithuanian, that discusses Lithuania\u2019s \u201cgovernment\u2019s injustice\u201d and encourages viewers to contact the KGB through a \u201csecure channel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian and Belarusian intelligence services actively use social media \u201cto search for potential agents, recruit them and maintain contacts,\u201d the VSD noted. Those who suspect any recruitment or espionage attempts by the \u201cintelligence services of hostile states\u201d must report it to Lithuanian intelligence, it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuanian nationals targeted by foreign intelligence services abroad were advised to \u201cimmediately contact\u201d their country\u2019s diplomatic mission or notify the authorities upon returning home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two months ago, the VSD issued a statement, accusing Minsk of deceiving Lithuanians and involving them in smuggling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
