February 11, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian historian Dr. Alaksandar Smalan\u010duk has been awarded a prize by the Poland-Lithuania Cooperation and Dialogue Forum and the Jerzy Giedroyc Polish-Lithuanian Dialogue and Cooperation Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the award-presentation ceremony at the Royal \u0141azienki Museum in Warsaw, the historian dedicated the award to all Belarusian historians who were forced to flee repression in their country, where \u201cthere is no freedom of scientific research in the area of humanities and social sciences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prize was awarded to \u201ca representative of a democratic Belarus\u201d for the first time this year, said Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka, a Warsaw-based opposition politician, speaking at the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smalan\u010duk, born in the Hrodna region in 1959, researches common history of Belarus, Lithuania and Poland at the Slavonic Studies Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
