February 12, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> A week after Minsk expressed concern about Cuba\u2019s energy crisis, the Belarusian embassy in Havana announced the suspension of flights to Belarus, apparently referring to charter services from Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The embassy advised Belarusian tourists to return via Moscow from Varadero on Rossiya Airlines flights scheduled for February 12, 14, 17, 19 and 21, as well as on flight FV6850 from Havana to Moscow on February 16. Travelers may also use Nordwind Airlines flights from Varadero to Moscow on February 12, 14 and 18, and from Holgu\u00edn to Moscow on February 12, the diplomatic mission said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 5, the Belarusian foreign ministry issued a statement expressing concern about energy supplies to Cuba after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order in late January regarding threats allegedly posed by Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington said it would impose new tariffs on countries supplying oil to Cuba, citing the need to protect US national security and foreign policy from what it described as actions by the Cuban regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMinsk remains steadfast in its position that the use of unilateral coercive measures is unacceptable,\u201d the Foreign Ministry stressed. \u201cSuch measures create obstacles to trade relations between states, hinder comprehensive socio-economic development and undermine the well-being of populations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement also warned of the risk of a humanitarian crisis and unpredictable consequences in the Caribbean in the event of further escalation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All disputes should be resolved peacefully, through dialogue and in full accordance with international law, Minsk added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
