February 13, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Crews of the Polonez-M multiple-launch rocket systems and Iskander-M missile systems have been deployed for exercises, conducting drills at considerable distances from their permanent bases, the defense ministry’s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry did not disclose exact locations. Rus\u0142an \u010cecha\u016d, in charge of the Belarusian missile forces and artillery, said the exercise involved several units moving around extensively, including up to 300 kilometers to reach designated areas. The official reported \u201cno equipment failures\u201d during the drill despite the launches carried out at night and in difficult weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Servicemen practised repelling attacks by sabotage and reconnaissance groups under a complex electronic warfare scenario, which included countering enemy unmanned aerial vehicles, including FPV drones, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Russian-made Iskander-M system, deployed in Belarus, can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads. The Belarusian-made Polonez-M system is designed for conventional warheads. However, last year, Security Council chief Alaksandar Valfovi\u010d mentioned that Minsk considered adding a nuclear capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ongoing drill was ordered by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka on January 16 and is expected to last until spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army is frequently conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
