February 15, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja met with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker T\u00fcrk at the Munich Security Conference yesterday to discuss ways to secure the release of jailed Belarusian dissidents, her press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting also focused on Washington\u2019s humanitarian track in negotiations to secure the release of Belarusian regime critics, as well as on the situation of pardoned people, their forced deportations and a lack of documents, as well as the needs of reprisal victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US humanitarian efforts should be supported and sustained alongside continued pressure to ensure systemic changes in the policies of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime, Cichano\u016dskaja stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international community should seek not only the release of prisoners but also a complete end to reprisals, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
