February 16, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Police have arrested three armed young foreigners who broke into a private home not far from Minsk early on Monday and violently assaulted its occupants, the interior ministry reported, adding that the suspects had been hired through Telegram to beat up the owner of the house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. in the Smalavi\u010dy district 38 miles northeast of Minsk. Arriving in the village of Budahava in a carsharing vehicle, two 17-year-olds and their 18-year-old associate burst into the building by smashing out one of its windows and inflicted multiple injuries on its 63-year-old owner and his 65-year-old wife and 67-year-old brother, the ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 63-year-old man pressed a security alarm button when the strangers were about to break the window glass. According to the report, police responded to the alert promptly and arrested two of the intruders at the scene, while the third one \u201cattempted to escape with a pistol\u201d but was soon caught still in the Smalavi\u010dy district. The suspects reportedly offered resistance, and police used automatic weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior Minister Ivan Kubrako\u016d interrogated the foreigners in person. They told him that they had been offered \u201ccriminal income\u201d by a Telegram user, who promised \u201c300,000 rublei\u201d for finding the victim\u2019s house, beating him up and sending over a video of the assault, the report said without specifying whether \u201crublei\u201d referred to Belarusian rubels or Russian rubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trio allegedly arrived in Minsk armed with pistols, a pepper spray canister, brass knuckles, a baseball bat and a knife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victims are said to be in hospital, with doctors assessing the severity of their injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
