February 16, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Kyiv Appeals Court has rejected an appeal by Ina Karda\u0161 arrested on suspicion of spying for Belarus\u2019 Committee for State Security, suspilne.media<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the hearing, the prosecutor said that \u201cmeasures are being taken to exchange her [Karda\u0161] with the Belarusian side.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian-born Karda\u0161 worked as a journalist for Ukraine\u2019s 112 television channel since 2019 and later for Interfax Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), she was sent from Minsk to Ukraine to operate as an agent under the cover of journalistic activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SBU released several audio recordings in which the suspect is heard speaking with her presumed KGB handler, who allegedly promised her remuneration of \u20ac3,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agency added that the woman was tasked with collecting information on Belarusians and Russians assisting Ukraine and attempted to identify potential candidates for recruitment by the KGB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SBU reported her arrest on January 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
