February 17, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>BySol, an initiative labeled by authorities an extremist group for raising funds for assistance to victims of political persecution, has denied claims by the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office of Belarus that it operates a courier delivery network in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBySol does not create underground organizations, does not form any groups inside the country and does not arrange cash delivery by physical persons,\u201d it said hours after the office reported that the Supreme Court had upheld sentences for its alleged couriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two men were sentenced to three years in prison and the other two individuals, to three years, under Part 3 of Article 361-1 and fined 22,500 rubels ($7,883) each. The accused worked as BySol couriers delivering funds to recipients, said to the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two of the accused pleaded guilty, while the two others, not guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BySol raised more than \u20ac1.25 million last year for assistance to Belarusians in need, including volunteers fighting alongside the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
