{"id":176269,"date":"2026-02-19T01:15:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T22:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/176269\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"only-brest-and-hrodna-regions-report-gdp-growth-in-january","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/176269\/","title":{"rendered":"Only Brest and Hrodna regions report GDP growth in January"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>February 18, <em>Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Only the Brest and Hrodna region reported Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in January 2026, according to <em>Pozirk<\/em>\u2019s analysis of the National Statistical Committee\u2019s (Bie\u0142stat) data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In particular, the economies of the Brest and Hrodna region grew by 1.6 and 7.2 percent year on year, respectively, in January 2026, while that of the Viciebsk region contracted by 4.1 percent; of the Mahilo\u016d region, by 3.1 percent; of the Minsk region, by 2.8 percent; of the Homiel region, by 0.8 percent; and of the city of Minsk by 0.7 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GDP of the Brest and Hrodna regions grew by 1.2 and 1.7 percent year on year, respectively, in December 2025, while that of the Viciebsk region declined by 1.1 percent; that of the Mahilo\u016d region grew by 0.1 percent; of the Minsk region, by one percent; of the Homiel region, by 2.4 percent; and of the city of Minsk, by 2.4 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minsk and the Minsk region accounted for 33 and 17.6 percent of Belarus\u2019 GDP, respectively, in January 2026, followed by the Homiel region with 11.9 percent, the Brest region with 11.6 percent, the Hrodna region with 11.2 percent, the Viciebsk region with 8.9 percent and the Mahilo\u016d region with 7.7 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minsk and the Minsk region accounted for 31.6 and 19 percent of Belarus\u2019 GDP, respectively, in December 2025, the Homiel region for 11 percent, the Brest region for 11.7 percent, the Hrodna region for 10.3 percent, the Viciebsk region for 8.7 percent, and the Mahilo\u016d region for 7.6 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Bie\u0142stat, Belarus\u2019 GDP dropped by 1.2 percent year on year in January after a 1.3-percent increase in 2025.
