February 27, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The National Bank of Belarus has announced a reduction in the estimated values of standard risk (EVSR) next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interest rates on new deposits and loans that exceed the EVSR indicate a higher level of risk, the central bank said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Bank of Belarus calculates the EVSRs at least once every three months based on the average interest rates set by seven major banks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator has reduced the EVSR for new loans to companies in Belarusian rubels by 0.15 percentage points to 12.91 percent. The rate for individuals has been cut by 0.43 percentage points to 18.49 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EVSR for new irrevocable rubel deposits with maturities of one to three years has been lowered by 0.48 percentage points to 14.34 percent. For new irrevocable rubel deposits with maturities of more than three years, the rate has decreased by 0.31 percentage points to 15.31 percent. The EVSR for new investment loans to companies remains unchanged at 11.8 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current EVSRs have been in force since January 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raman Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka, head of the central bank, said on February 27 that the regulator encourages commercial banks to expand investment lending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EVSRs were introduced in 2019 as part of a set of macroprudential measures aimed at limiting systemic risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
